6 - MONTH PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE COURSE IN CRIMINAL PROSECUTION AND LITIGATION

This six-month non-residential certificate programme is designed to bridge the gap between the basic legal practice training available to prosecutors and the advanced professional legal education of defense counsel. It seeks to enhance the competence, confidence, and professionalism of officers involved in criminal prosecution and litigation.

Course Overview

The programme aims to:

  • Deepen participants' understanding of criminal procedure and the rules of evidence.

  • Strengthen courtroom advocacy and litigation skills.

  • Update knowledge of relevant legislation and the interpretation of laws.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Sources of Ghanaian Law

  • General Principles of Criminal Liability

  • General Defences

  • Parties to a Crime

  • Domestic Disputes

  • Offences Against Children And Other Vulnerable Persons

  • Indecent Assault and Sexual Offences

  • Procurement and Abduction

  • And other key areas of criminal prosecution practice

SHORT COURSES

The Ghana School of Law, in collaboration with Columbia Law School, New York, and the University of Ghana School of Law, is pleased to present the Executive National Security Law Seminar, a high-level international training programme scheduled to take place from the 8th to 12th June 2026 at Columbia Law School, United States of America.

This is a one-week intensive executive education programme designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the legal, institutional, and operational frameworks governing national security. It offers structured exposure to the United States national security legal system, with a strong emphasis on its interaction with international law, including International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

Through expert-led lectures, case discussions, and interactive sessions, participants will gain practical and comparative insights into contemporary security challenges and the legal tools used to address them.
